Hi there
I just bought an Audi A6 at the weekend (1995, 2.0 Avant with about 126,000 miles on the clock). Everything seems to be pretty much ship-shape, apart from something a little odd with the engine management.

It seems to idle quite high both when cold and warm - around 1200rpm, and then when you push the clutch in when changing gear, the revs rise to 3000 rpm before falling down to 1000rpm. You can also feel the car pulling away a bit when in gear and a low revs with no throttle applied.

Someone has suggested that our temperature sensor is knackered, and hence the ecu doesn't know whether it is hot or cold, but does anyone else have experience of this?

Much appreciated...

Tim

VAG temperature sensors seem to be universally pants. They're not expensive to replace from GSF.
