ur quattros...... what are they worth......
Discussion
Guys, I'm in the market for a ur quattro but the prices seem to be all over the place. Ideally I would like a 20v version but these appear to be the most expensive. I notice that there is a 20v in the "for sale" section and was wondering if this was considered a good buy.... take a look and please let me know...

I don't think that is an easy question to answer. The reason that prices are all over the place is that the condition of the cars is too. Only to be expected at that age and mileage. Some will be cherished, others abused.
I'd worry less about mileage. These cars are (relatively) bulletproof up to 150k and more if they have been well maintained. Worry more about how much paint it's had, whether it's "straight" or not.
Personally I prefer a car like this to be as standard as possible. Having said that, £10k feels like the right region for an '89 20v - if it is in good fettle.
Saw a great looking late MB (10v) in tornado red at AM Cars today for £9995. Looks a good buy for someone.

or even yours
Even my what?
I have to say I have found AM to be absolutely straight and honest about the cars he sells. Some are not great, but he doesn't pretend they are. Some are very good indeed....
You barge pole!
Well thats one for and one against, in a 50/50 split i think i would walk away.
I think youve hit it on the head by saying his cars "are not great", Not too sure about the "he doesnt pretend they are"

guys, back to the point in question please.....
Agreed.
Phumy, are you going to offer some advice for tamdisco here, or just try to pick an argument by calling me a barge pole and deliberately misquoting what I wrote in the previous post.
And... I think slagging a dealer off is not the way to behave on PH.

Apologies, that was a slip of the finger should have read "yourR and im sure you realised that anyway. I can offer him lots of information, probably the best is to join the owners club and talk to the owners there, look at the forums and chat on them they are a mine of information. I could sit here and write all night talking about them but i would bore the tits off of every one else. As for slagging off a dealer, i see no problem in that if he wants to come on here and defend himself thats fine by me. He put secondhand parts on my car, palming them off as brand new and i have proof and an admission by him, that good enough for you.

Tamdisco. your heading, "What are they worth" means very much for any marque of car, they are worth what you are prepared to pay. Can i suggest that you either join the Owners Club for usefull information and regular meets whereby you can go meet the owners and their cars, find out whats good and whats bad, they will tell you as they wont want anyone else to fall into any traps, many good cars are sold through the club too. Or secondly, get yourself over to the www.quattroforum.com , theres plenty of owners on there willing to help out new or prospective owners.
When you do decide to go out looking for one to buy, just be very wary of service history, be very critical also, and take someone with you who knows these cars, all too often they are bought in haste and it ends in tears as the costs of owning one can become astronomic. However get the right car and it will be superb and bring a great big grin to your face everytime you drive it, mine does, ive owned it now for 9 years and has never let me down once, great cars
