Suspension advice-Mark 3 Golf
Discussion
I think the suspension on my Golf Mk3 needs changing, but I don't want to spend a fortune. Anyone got any advice for the best conmplte kit out there for cheap money and the best places to buy it from?
All seems a bit complicated if I look at buying bits separately....if I do go this route, what do I need? Car's a 1993 1.8GL with stage 3 head and nitrous (OK so I made those bits up...)

Rubystone,
GSF are doing a Boge kit with four lowering springs and matching gas shocks for £149+VAT; you won't do better than that, Boge is original equipment on lots of VWs.
Check your bushing at the same time and renew your strut top mountings as a matter of course if they haven't been done recently.
Happy cornering.
The Boge gas shocks are fine, but the springs that come in the kit are I belive still the cack Ventura items that sag after about a year. ECP do a similar kit with budget Bistein shocks & those cack springs too.
I'd bung decnet springs with the shocks like Eibach or H&R, tho you are looking at over £100 for 'em.
Eibach springs & shocks kit as ya know always gets my vote anyway.
Ref the Konis, comparing Koni adjustables- which are ace, to budget shocks is not really an eggs with eggs comparison tho.

Ruby- tough to say, this is the missis's old slushmatic golf runabout yeah?
Well Konis adjustables are indeed ace but you have to link 'em to decent springs & really its all be a bit of overkill, esp considering you have other far more interesting wagons in the stable!
Boges & decent springs perhaps the best & most cost effective way forward, altho maybe just try the cheapo springs ones that come in the kit & see how you get on.

Guys,
this deal from GSF is for genuine Boge matched springs and shocks, it's not cheap and nasty springs, so it is a good deal.
Koni adjustables are the ultimate, but they are only worth fitting if you're going to put them to good use.
No second hand shockers are worth £200, I don't care how good they are, they're still second hand, and you can't inspect them internally, so there is a huge risk element.
