New Q7 certainly looks compelling - saw one over at MK Audi last weekend and it looks like a significant step forwards.
I'm in exactly the same position though wondering whether to wait for the Hybrid, our current Q7 is coming up for 5 years old but I'm not going to order until some more info comes out. The mileage we do is a mix of very long journeys and short school runs so the proposition suits our usage well.
All sorts of rumours that Renault / Nissan have a new battery technology that is going to triple the range in the next 6 months as well so don't want to jump into a dated tech for something so critical.
Also how does the buying a hybrid through a company make it more cost effective? Whilst you can allow 100% against CT it's still going to have an asset value and you are going to incur a % BIK (agreed low to start with) which you wouldn't get with a personal purchase. Can it work out that compelling?
Cheers,
Phil

All valid points kent and I too will wait for details. I like 'free stuff' when it comes to council parking and free charging but the hybrid may be 80k and I would balk at that. Plus the bik will rise but the existing threshold is 75 g and it is 50 so fluck before it becomes an issue. It's for my wife who does 15k annually. Moving up from q5 and already moaning about the size but the kids etc means we need 7 seats and it is the nuts as far as I'm concerned.I'm in exactly the same position though wondering whether to wait for the Hybrid, our current Q7 is coming up for 5 years old but I'm not going to order until some more info comes out. One thing I will check is the battery warranty. Conversely I think in 5 years some current cars will be unsalable because they are not fashionable or too expensive to run due to the tax on the motorist

I'll be in the market for a new Q7, will have to evaluate very hard if the etron will be worth the extra weight & cost. £10,000 (I don't know if that will be the actual markup) buys an awful lot of extra fuel and VED.
I also want to see which engine will be best for me - with more power and less weight the 3.0Tdi might be comparable to the 4.2Tdi I've currently got.

yep, the 0 to 62 on the new 3.0tdi is 0.5 sec better than the old 4.2V8. Actually 6.5 vs 6.9 with the etron 6 dead. £10k seems to be the premium so looking at 70k. Not sure about the govt 5k grant but other known tax incentives make it seriously viable. Other benefits are pre cooling and heating and of course free parking and recharging in the city.

Just taken a look at the brochure for the new Q7. Impressed by how much stuff is now standard and integrated: HDD route planner, MMI interface etc. Gives a much better feeling than being fleeced for £2000 for a sub-standard satnav that is worse than a £200 Garmin or £500 just to plug in your iPod. New system has a 10Gb download capability and a USB socket, much more convenient. Bizarrely though you can still buy a 6xCD changer! Not quite sure why anyone would pay £1200 for a couple of screens for the rear seats that you can only stream images to from a separate device, might as well just buy a couple of brackets and some tablets. Would be nice to have a universal power supply available behind the front seats, that's really all you need.
Can't find another thread so thought I would resurrect this.
I bought a 2017 Q7 Etron in March, within a few days the charger broke (internal to the car, not the EVSE that you plug in), and I've been waiting 3 months for the part to arrive at Audi as a replacement.
Reading around I found a number of threads where this seems to be a common fault on the cars - Audi will also cover it with 100% goodwill (if you have full Audi SH) so clearly it's not if, but when - maybe something to consider if you're looking at these on the used market.

Do you lose the £0 VED with a 2017 one?I bought a 2017 Q7 Etron in March, within a few days the charger broke (internal to the car, not the EVSE that you plug in), and I've been waiting 3 months for the part to arrive at Audi as a replacement.
