Audi A6 Engine/Multitronic Gearbox Trouble
Discussion
My wife drives an 4 year old A6 with a multitronic gearbox. It's done 37k miles. Over the last 2 months the gearbox in auto mode sometimes is reluctant to change gears. Also when the car is doing between 70-80 mph it tends to chug a lot and it seems it doesn't want to go over 80 mph. Its like the engine is gasping for air. Can anyone shed any light on what might be the problems.

There is no gearchange as such with the multitronic box, it just raised or lowers the revs in response to your right foot. What happens when you or your wife pushes the pedal to the metal?
Also, what happens if you use the tiptronic mode (if you have this).
I find that sometimes, you need to push the gas pedal quite far before things start to happen, it doesn't help that my car is a low powered 2.0 petrol model.

Got a 2.5TDI which was being a bit odd and apparently they all have problems with their Air Flow Sensors. So much so that instead of being a new part (£250?)Audi do recon ones (£70).
In our case it wasn't the problem it was a dying waste gate on the turbo, new gate fitted and much better!
