Black smoke looks a bit like overfuelling but the white doeas look rather worrying.

I'd say it lost compression on a cyl or two hence wasn't fully combusting the charge, white would indicate coolant - hence could have been as simple as a popped head gasket. Of course its just as likely it melted a piston or dropped a valve and punctured a water jacket
