clutch slips or tyres slip? - still confused

Golf PD 150 with tuning box which takes it to +185BHP
Good stuff BUT in 4th gear, the revs run away from 2200 to 3000 if you boot it.
Sometimes does this in 5th but never in 6th, which sort of rules out the clutch. However, the traction control light only comes on in 3rd when the wheels start spinning.
greasy roads?, slipping clutch? not sure. the revs never run seriously away, and there's never any clutchy smell. The car only has 8000 miles on it.
any ideas?
