slipping clutch on chipped TDI?
Discussion
It's a 04 reg GTI TDI PD 150 with plug in re-mapping module which takes it to I believe 182BHP. It now has 7000 miles on the clock.
It's been 'module'd for about 4 months now and performs extremely well BUT.........
I did notice about 3 months ago that the revs VERY occasionally ran away, usually in 3rd of 4th gear from about 2200 to 2800, where they would then stay till the speed picked up.
It's doing it much more now, but can't establish if it's the tyres slipping (which they can do with the torque) or the clutch slipping. The speedo tends not to race away like the rev counter does.
On this other forum however, they strongly suggest that it is not the clutch but the ECU causing the problem, and that this problem is widespread.
VW are obviosly not interested, as the car has been modded, but I'm getting differeing opnions.
anyone any idea?
Cheers.
