Warning buzzer for lights not working ...anybody help
Discussion
I assume the interior lights don't work when you open the driver's door either, when the interior light switch is in the correct position?
Probably a door control module, which is a very common failure on VAG cars of that era.
Basically, the reason the lights on buzzer is not working is because it's not detecting the driver's door being opened.

Thanks for the advice cuprabob...have checked the interior light and all functioning ok ..interior light comes on when car opened on remote fob or door opened from inside. Did see on ebay vw light buzzers for sale...which may indicate it's a common fault...I can't see any lights buzzer on my basic wiring diagram but will investigate further.
Just had a quick look in a Haynes Fabia manual and there's no mention of the buzzer in the wiring diagram. Might be worth an ask on Briskoda.net as there's lots of folks with VAG know how on there. Might even be a "how to " as well. Again, if the right person picks up a question, they might have access to wiring diagrams that show details down to earthing posts and physical location.
But from memory (and Polo is the VW Fabia) the internal light works off the door lock, not the door.

Another look at Haynes ,shows the door switches which seem to indicate that an earth is applied to turn internal light on and +12 is sent to sidelights when on. There's a few buzzers in Maplins from simple buzzers to tunes working of 12 v. All that's then needed for a cheap work round is a relay operated when ignition is switched on ( with contacts on operated with relay operated ) .Or alternatively if possible ,fit buzzer /tune generator of choice in place of the faulty buzzer.

Yes rich the radio, OME , switches off when gnition turned off and key pulled out.....can this be releted to fault? Ian
I was just wondering if the reason the buzzer wasn't working is because the car thought the key was still in the ignition. ("S contact" for those who care) As the radio is turning off when the key removed. Sounds like the switch in the back of the ignition is Ok. Just wanted to rule it outThe "door closed/open" button, if jammed in the "door closed" position, will cause the "lights left on" buzzer to not sound.
Check if the button is permanently pushed in (as if the door is closed).
Swap it for another less used button from another door, and/or unstick the button..
Sooooo simple once I read this tip, thank you! Saved another flat battery.
