Touran Engines

A friend of mine is planning to buy a 2.0TDi VW Touran. He has the choice between a brand new (54) model or a 6 month old 53 model. He has noticed that there appears to be a change in engine power between these models from 136ps to 140ps. He's wondering if the engine has been tweaked slightly or whether it is an entirely new unit. Do any of you VAG experts know? If just a tweak, what's changed?
