I've just tried the new DSG car, its the first time i've seriously considered an automatic over a manual, it was great fun with the paddles and launch control system. If I can only get my head around moving on from my elise and its directness I would definitely buy one.
anyone here moved from elise to TT and not looked back and regretted it?.

I tried a TT 225 when I bought my Elise 3 years ago. Just getting rid of the Elise now because I bought an Audi S6 in April (possibly the 3.2 DSG TT has more in common with the S6 than a 225 does, being a multi-cylinder engine and automatic).
The TT didn't really do it for me 3 years ago - nice object, boring drive. Now I've turned 30 though, the Elise seems horribly raucous, not that fast and a bit fragile. I've barely driven it since I got my S6, even on day trips to Wales on a sunny Sunday. If you've become an old man too, then you won't have any problem with losing the Elise.

Well I have the A3 DSG (similar chassis, engine etc) and it's a great drive, quick, good handling & practical, however I need a car for everyday use & could not consider an Elise so can't comment on that. But in the past I had often 'considered' an auto for ease of use etc. but was never quite ready for one (due to power loss, torque converter, lack of involvement etc) however the DSG gives the best (better?) of both worlds - full auto capability and better than, IMHO, manual shift for having fun.
The car is certainly capable of making 'good progress' regardless of conditions etc and whilst not as focused as an Elise it is mighty capable, in an understated way.

I have the 1.8T 225Bhp Quattro, its a great car. The DSG is only slightly faster mind.

thanks for the comments, the comments on the top gear clip were interesting wrt to price (and he didn't really like the car), I've looked at the 350Z but need a 2+2 for ocassionally having to take kids to school etc., otherwise I think it would have been top of the list, tried the RX8 and didn't like it as much as the audi.
I think the audi is going to be the one - just wondering if i can hang on to the elise as well, PX values are terrible...
