Title says it all really. Is there a way of finding out how many cars of a particular colour are out there?

No idea how to find numbers without going to Audi.

It is a reasonably rare colour along with Nimbus grey. I guess the TT is the opposite to squirrels, you will see dozens of reds before you see a aviator/nimbus grey.

There are a lot of 'other' greys, which makes it harder to search specifically for aviator grey.

White is rarest of all. Factory special option. If you really want to know, head over to the TT forum. They'll know. Horrid colour imo, but each to their own.

I've never seen an English supplied TT in that shade - only in the US. Probably through Audi Exclusive which was very expensive.

I wonder if that is why we (in Europe) have nimbus. Although it could be Audi playing games because there appear to be two aviator greys with different paint codes depending on the year.

Other than a call to Audi, probably not.

I was involved in the TT scene from the early days (editing the owners club mag for a number of years) and I only ever recall seeing one member with a Nimbus/Aviator. My memory's let me down as to what it was called in the UK it was, but I think Nimbus.

Bear in mind that the show car was in the Battleship Grey that you're talking about, but only on the Roadster and it worked quite well with the Baseball leather. So a lot of early admirers might have thought about speccing it (though it was a pretty Marmite colour) but it wasn't an option at launch - only Black, Silver, Amulet Red, Olive Green and Denim Blue. I guess, you could have got a grey one - but at a huge cost...so lots of people probably decided against.

By the time there were more colour options (When the S-line limited editions became standard spec in 2001/2002) many people coming to the scene weren't aware of the original show and concept cars and wouldn't have dreamed of speccing one that looked like primer.

I quite like them with the baseball leather as they're the nearest thing to the concept:

When the TT was first launched in the UK it was launched with 2 greys, one for the coupe and one for the roadster. The Roadster was available in Nimbus grey (the really dark grey), and the Coupe was available in Arrow (the primer colour). Arrow Grey does however go under a different name in the US:

In the UK it is known as "Arrow Grey Pearl"
In the US it is known as "Aviator Grey Pearl"

Both are one in the same colour and it's now been discontinued in both markets. smile

Hi there only new. Managed to get my hands on a mk1 TT quattro 180hp in the aviator Grey? 25 years experience in the motor trade and only ever seen two in Ireland. One auto, and my manual. Thinking of selling it, all original bar the radio. Wheels need refurbished and very light scratches. Just hit 130,000 it 2003. Daily driver. Tested till February always have it back with 15mins of the test and going in for a service.

I've had 3 years due to an accident none car related, looks I've got to auto.
