Well I guess from my experience :-

1) Check oil consumption as they use a lot
2) Check milage as 70k is cambelt change (£800+)
3) MPG = 28 in my experience
4) Get 'cats' checked as it has at least 2 (pre cats?) which are £700+ each (mine were damaged during a service and audi warrenty replaced them no probs)
5) Check it has split folding rear seats - real pain if it doesn't - although the boot is big

Great sofas for mile munching, have really enjoyed the 3 years I've had mine. So much so have just purchased another (A6 2.5 TDI Avant Quattro).

Various Dash/Instrument cluster bulbs went on my A4 SE about twice a year.! No idea why, but a right pain as air bag/steering wheel, cowling all has to come off. Used to get charged about £70 to replace a £1.80 bulb. Of course, whilst it’s out you may as well replace all the bulbs, I think about 12 in all. Soon adds up.
