Quick question...and maybe a stupid one
Did they make a 2wd version...spoke to a dealer, he says its 2wd with quattro pack - Eh? Or are they all like this and he means its 4wd!!!
They are Front Wheel Drive until traction is lost and then power is put to the rears. Its the Haldex system out of the VW Synchros rather than the Torson diff out of the quattro cars.
So not full time 4WD but not 2WD either...
Audi sell the Haldex 4WD system on the A3 and TT as Quattro which it is not - a bit naughty IMHO.
Indeed.
Its an interesting system dynamically though, when pushing a little too hard and the front starts to wash from understeer you get a noticeable push from behind so staying on the power does help.
Would still prefer a proper full time Torson set up though.
Easto,
either your dealer was trying to be clever and capturing the limitations of the Haldex system, or he is extremely stupid and does not know what he is selling. The odds favour the later.
