Audi A3 Sportback

Sportback is the funky name for a 5 door A3

Audi have launched their new A3 five door model this week. The new car comes with a variety of power and trim levels right up to a 245bhp motor with the Direct Shift Gearbox.

It will be available in the UK from September costing from £16,010 OTR to £24,625 OTR.

Like its three-door counterpart, the new hatchback offers a wide range of petrol and TDI engines in its segment, and combines these with either five or six speed manual transmission, optional six-speed tiptronic automatic transmission or the semi-automatic Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG).

The new A3 Sportback is available in standard, SE and Sport trim (except 2.0 T FSI and 3.2 quattro models which are equipped to Sport specification only). Equipment levels are virtually identical to the three-door with the addition of rear electric windows for all models. A wide range of extras will be offered, including a combined DVD satellite navigation system and MP3 music player and a two-part Open Sky glass sunroof system which will enable much of the roof section to be retracted for maximum fresh air (from 2005).

I actually quite like it , better looker than the three door IMHO, if it hasn't for that new grill!

But those prices!!

Can't believe I just admitted to the slightest liking of a VW!

Especially when you spec it.

I've specced it to £32k with the bits I want on the 3.2 DSG and thats without the 'opensky' when that comes out.

Looks quite nice, but checked out a model with all the options last weekend and it didn't leave much change out of €60,000 Although that included a €5k sat nav system... for that price I would expect it to tell me the way to my destination them promptly drive me there on it's own.

Looks like they're trying to take BMW's "overpriced" title

Try pricing it a drivethedeal.com and save yourself some serious wedge like I did

I do like the new A3, but I've only just finished paying for my 2000/X-reg A3 1.8T Sport.

Still saving for the A4 Cabriolet 3.0 V6 Quattro Sport...
