1999 Audi A6 4.2 Quattro

Just bought the car above - what a fantastic machine - nemo blue metallic with cream leather recaro interior, sat-nav plus, Bose, solar panel sun-roof, xenon headlights, twin pane glass, steering wheel gear change - i.e. pretty much everything that was available as an optional extra! Drives superbly - only concern so far is fuel consumption, but worth it to hear that V8.

A couple of questions as I'm new to Audis. I'm having trouble finding a touch-up pen for the car (paint code LZ5S) Halfords don't have this colour, and Audi have discontinued supply - any ideas. Also, need to update the sat nav disk - Apart from Audi, is there anywhere that these can be sourced at a competitive price - don't need the latest update, just something newer than 1999. Thanks.

Are you sure Audi have discontinued supply? I got LZ5T for my TR6, quite a while after it disappeared from the option list.

Try South Hereford Audi - they are great for rooting out old Audi spares.

I don't bother with touch up paint anymore, save 'em up and get Chipsaway to sort it with a perfect match

The nav CDs are available here from Teleatlas - less than £100 which must be worth doing?

Just out of interest how much did you get your 4.2 for?

I have just bought a 4.2 2001 S6 Saloon this morning, sounds fairly similar although I dont have Sat Nav or a sunroof. 44k miles for £19k from main dlr? Didnt think this sounded too bad with it having a full service, warranty, tidy up and a years tax all inc'd.

I paid £14K for mine - 1999 with 67K (apparently £52K new including £8K worth of optional extras!) - car is in mint condition, but was a private sale, so no warranty - extensive service history though. The 4.2 Sports seem to sell for quite a lot less than the S6, which would have been my first choice. Very happy with the car though - the performance and sound are fantastic.

Any chance you could post a picture of the back of your car - on the 4.2 Sport you cannot see the exhausts - I'd like to upgrade the the exhaust system to S6 or miltek - but would like to see the rear valance on the S model.
