My first post on the Audi / VW forum!
Expanding family has forced me to sell the Chimaera and now I'm serioulsy looking for a 95/96 Coupe.
I love the build quality & looks, but I'm in a bit of a dilema as to which engine I should go for.
S2 is out of my league at the mo so I'm looking at a 2.6 or 2.0 16V (or an earlier 2.8 front wheel drive)
Anything specific I should look out for when viewing & which would engine would you recommend??
Cheers in advance

If you can find one go for a quattro of any capacity rather the the FWD versions. Built like tanks in every respect. The FWD coupe handling is rubbish - you'll hate it I promise. Plus they wheelspin at the first opportunity. Heavy, clumsy things.
But usually reliable and very strong.

We had a '95 2.6 coupe when I was first driving (it was the first car I drove on the road, at 12.00 midnight the moment I turned 17.. )
It was a nice day to day car for our family and I enjoyed going out in it on journeys, passenger or driver, journeys which I still remember fondly. It wasn't really a thrills-at-the-limit machine, but it's not meant to be either and we never used it like that.
It worked great as an everyday car where an A4 or A6 would have been boring.
Nowadays I suspect only a CLK, 406 V6 coupe or maybe 3xxCi is such a 'splendid' everyday car.
The Long legged 2.6 is not powerful but is a nice, smooth and willing unit to play with.
We do service and repairs on it now, and it's well over 100k. It's still just like I remembered it too, apart from the ride, which 3 1/2 subsequent years in a Mercedes has unfortunately ruined for almost every car not made in Stuttgart. However, short drives during repairs don't suit it - yes, I think I need another 100 miles in this one...

In the end had a choice between my mates 92 quattro (very tired & 160K on the clock) & low miles (70K) 95 coupe.
Have gone with the latter - very nice & smooth & ideal for carting the sprogs around in relative safety!
Miss the looks & performance of the TVR - but praticality won this argument!
