unsettled at idle

last wek had the timing adjusted to get rid of some annoying flat spots on my Mk3. Since then, the revs wander at idle between 900 and 1100. This is not a bad range I guess, but it goes up and down constantly and never used to. the engine timing guys say it's not hem, could be a faulty temp sensor????

any ideas?

If it's anything like the Mk2, you might want to clean the air flow meter with some carb cleaner.

turns out it was a dud temp sensor.
