Promises the usual big power hikes but for a small amount.

For my Golf
www.mrhoot.com/proddetail.asp?prod=TB008P
It works out at £225.

Is it really any good or would I be better of getting the ECU re-mapped properly?

Lots of diesel owners use those and similar www.tunit.co.uk/

The remaps offer a better mapping and generally more power but these are plug and play and allow you some adjustment. Look on TDIclub for example or there are some users on other VAG forums using them on 90/110 and some using them in conjunction with a remap.

I have called Tuneit before and they wanted £400.

Is the company I mentioned in the initial post legit?
They arre charging almost half price for a similar product. Their website is not as "professional" looking either which always concerns me.

Yes, I've seen plenty of Seat diesels run mrhoot boxes. You can get them on ebay for 1/4 of that price

Too many bad ebay experiences for my liking.

Are the Mrhoot boxes as good as the tuneit ones though?

Just buy one and let me know if it's any good

I'm thinking of getting a Ibiza 1.9TDi PD [130] and chiping it

I looked at these and thought the same ?

Have a go in one. You might even find you diont need to chip it.

Im only chipping mine cos I have decided to spice up my commute to work a little. Planning on changing the suspension too.

I plan on aiming for a 200,000+ miles in my TDi, just to see how long it will last!

Fair enough, I've not driven one yet but I'm going to test the new Fabia vRS later. I can't help thinking it's butt ugly thou' hence the Ibiza.

look on www.seatcupra.net most Ibiza 130 owners here have gone the remap route rather than box

Did you buy one Dusty ? I went for 110 Leon TDi in the end which is quick enough but isn't going to set the world on fire. A bit of extra umph wouldn't go a miss.

ps. Missed ya at the Growl saw the infamous car thou'

Got my A4 2.5 tdi tweaked at West Tuning at Thruxton.Just to give it a bit more oomph.Just over 190bhp now and 300lb/ft torque.Could take it out to 215bhp apparently, but didn't want to be greedy.

Will a re-map give the car anymore at low revs ?

I should have worn my LM tshirt. Missed loads of people.

Havent bought the chip/remap. Im trying to decide whether to go for that and suspension or a MK4 150 TDi golf instead.

NO ! don't do that to me. If you buy a 150 Golf and it's better than a chip'd 110 golf I'll have to change the Seat for a Cupra.

This is my 3rd car this year ! I can't change it again

Dont worry it would take me years to find the right one!
Plus I still like my 90TDi. Need better suspensions and grip for more fun though. Better supported seats too.

Edc,don't know what he did.The car never ran very well from when I bought it,so the car dealer said to take it down to Ray's and let him play.He wiped out the 'wrong' map from another cars ecu that was in our car and re-wrote the software and that's what he came up with. This was a re-map and not a chip.Chips are ok,if the car it was originaly done on runs the same as yours, but how many engines run the same?.The re-map is tailored to the one car.
