Last question, I promise.......A8?
Discussion
I know I am being a complete pain in the rear with lots of Audi questions, only one more I promise.
Is a 2.8 A8 a complete barge, or an acceptable family car?
Anyone have any opinions bood bad or ugly.
I presume the 2.8 being the runt of the litter isn't the most sparkling of performers, but needs to be a good family car that isn't prohibitively expensive.
Must admit, I love the shape of them.

I looked at an A8 when I was replacing my old A4. In the end I decided that it was too big a car for the engine. I know they are alloy, but I just felt it all a bit under damped and under powered for the type of car it is. I even drove the 4.0 Quattro (non sport model) and unfortunately was unimpressed, for the same reason’s. For such a big engine (4.0) it didn’t really seem to move that quickly. The interior of the A8’s, I believe to be showing there age a little now, although similar to the A4’s. Also quite a few had strange leather combinations, I drove 3 and all had Blue leather, not to my taste at all…!
However My neighbour had a 2.8 A8 as a company car, and he loved it. He rated it better than a Merc C-Class, Omega and Mondeo (and diesel for tax reason’s), he still goes on about it today.
On the plus side, they are huge, you can get everything in the boot, I think they look quite nice (better than the old A6’s) and seem to come with quite a few toys. However when them toys start to go wrong, do you really want to be paying the £80 + VAT per hour Audi labour charge! to put them right..! Also they might seem good value for money, but what about it’s future value, at least an A4 will have one…

Thanks.
This one looks lovely, with every toy known to mankind, and very cheap with a full audi history. I reckon it is hard to let go.
I am looking at it in about 2 hours, fingers crossed.
You are right, I do need either a 3.7 or 4.2 quat.
For the price though, I would be mad not to .....
I will keep you posted...
