I am in the process of attempting to get a deal on an '01 S3, are there many p'hers owners of this marque?

Appears most people i have spoken to are relatively happy with their cars, i am after any things to look out for and useful tips before purchase, has anyone found a good dealership in the Midlands.

- What sort of figure would a main service be, vehicle i am looking at has now done 35k with variable servicing, service is now due.

- Any details of companys with good insurance quotes would be useful.

Thanks in anticipation!!

We have a 2001 S3 as our everyday workhorse. It's done about 67,000 miles now and still looks and feels like a new car. The only thing I've been told to watch for is duff ignition coil packs on 2001 cars, although ours hasn't had the problem, and Audi are apparently quite good about replacing them as a recall item.

Our insurance is through direct line. About 500 quid a year for my fiancee and me, with full no-claims in Windsor.

For servicing costs, give The Autopool in Iver, Bucks a call. They're a well respected Audi specialist and should be able to tell you what to expect. Our last AVS service cost about 120 quid - next one will be a biggy though as it will need a cam belt change.

Hope this helps,
Pete

I am also looking at getting an S3. Pistonheads is a great place but there seem to be more S3 owners over at www.audi-sport.net who might be able to help.

Good luck!
