Picking up an R32 next wednesday for my practical load lugger. Anyone else out there with one?

I was going to have the AMD 300bhp chip / zorst conversion installed for 2k, although is this enough oomph? I do wonder if a supercharger conversion may be on the horizon from one of the VAG tuners. Any info on this? Maybe I'll phone up BBR on monday as they seem to 'charge virtually everything for 3k fitted - from mini's to Astons. Seems like a 100 pony hike is the usual ball park.

Also, anyone have any web links for tuners, as I've only heard of AMD. Thanks!

I know of an R32 running with 350bhp
Not sure of the details of the actual conversion, but it was recently sold by this dealer:

www.richard-skiba.co.uk

If you drop him a message, he will fill in the details!

Not sure that you'd need any more! When could you use it.... exept maybe on the track.

Could the chassis handle it? 300 is already more than its rated at by VW/Audi.

Think you should be looking at brakes first its not a light car anymore and might take some stopping if you're going to use all that power!

The car is so smooth that another few horses will be fine. Having mulled it over I think the 300 chip conversion is best as the insurance can't detect it.

Driven a couple of ECU & exhaust mods R32s & it really makes a difference, esp as as the revs rise, which is where the standard car feels a bit flat.

Ray at West tuning is the man to talk to-

If West are using Geoff Everitt maps then a tentative yes cos he was the gut at AmD doing all the mapping

Yes I rate him very highly- its where I take my own cars & have a car there at the mo.

West= small, friendly & very knowledgeable little set up vs the new style AmD which is larger & more corporate type.

West usually a bit less pricey than AmD too.

If you want to drop me an e-mail about this feel free.

Looks like the supercharger upgrade is going to unleash 380bhp with a pretty flat power curve. That may be a tad nippy in a hatchback.

380bhp might just overcome the fact that the R32 is a 1600+ kilo lardy arse that could do with shedding 400kg or so

Geoff was indeed the wizard behind AmD and it was he who mapped my Corrado back in the days when AmD was a small garage in the middle of nowhere.

The fact that it's heavy and well built makes it so comfy for a daily drive, unlike many of it's rivals.

Mind you, even in it's standard form I managed to keep a charging subaru at bay on saturday. Having said that, if I wanted the fastest thing on wheels I'd have an Evo. As it is I'm satisfied with it's comfy and practical package which doesn't scream Kev-mobile.

It is indeed a tad lardy, but 1500kg not 1600kg tho (actual book weights= 1477kg)

Still pretty much bang on the weight of 2 Mk1 Gti's tho!!
