A6 x 6

Audi to swamp stand with one model

Audi will attend this year's Birmingham Motor Show with just one model! Their stand will consists of six examples of their new A6 model.

None of the other models in their range will get a look in. It will be a disappointment to many Audi fans who'd like to get a close up look at their full range.

The precedent was set in 1999 when Audi launched the TT with a stand exclusively featuring the coupe.

The A6 saloon is likely to enjoy more sedate reception.  The A6 is available to order now, and officially on sale in the UK from June 12th. The launch range features three completely new V6 engines – a 2.4 petrol with 177PS, a 3.2 FSI petrol with 256PS and an advanced 3.0 TDI V6 with new injection technology delivering 225PS. A 4.2-litre petrol V8 with 335PS powers flagship models. OTR prices will range from £24,425 to £43,025.

I'm told the A6 looks nicer in the flesh but from the pictures I've seen, it just looks plain ugly! I really don't like that large gaping maw at the front. And if that's going to be introduced the model range, then it'll put me off Audis full stop. Which is rather sad as we have been fans of the make and we've got two Audis at the moment (an RS2 and an S3).

I think Audi have lost the plot style wise. There's really nothing in the current or proposed line up that I'd want to add to our fleet. And a stand full of A6s isn't going to make want to rush to the Audi stand at the motor show.

Now if I could get anywhere near the Aston Martin stand and have a chance to gaze longingly at the DB9, I'd be there like a shot.

Its gorgeous in the metal I have to say.

I was in two minds about the new grille but once you see it on the big A8 (not here yet) it just looks superb.

Stand will be very impressive I reckon.
