Car arrived in the snow last week. Wasn't expecting to be using the heated steering wheel, heated seats and snow drive mode so soon. Simon do you have a view on tyre wear, how many miles have you managed to get out of the tyres?
I will be providing a full review and more photos in the coming weeks.
Initial thoughts....looks fantastic (lots of presence without showing off), great tech, great boot space (especially handy having the underfloor storage), rear wheel steering makes manoeuvring easy, young kids liking the ambient lighting (pink). Only negative is the gearbox is a little lacklustre at low speeds, fine once going.
What driving modes are people using, tried a run on eco and got 35mpg which is not to bad on new engine in low temps.
Congratulations! Glad you are enjoying it!I will be providing a full review and more photos in the coming weeks.

Regards mpg, did an airport pickup in steady and sometimes congested traffic last weekend, in comfort mode got 41mpg, crusing at just above legal limit due to all the cameras. Was impressed with that - now has just over 1000miles on the clock. My (colder) B road commute with rounder-bouts and some city congestion can dip to 33mpg.
Had started out using Eco mode more, but the last cold snap had me reaching for Comfort mode to get the cabin warmed up a bit quicker. Mpg seems ok as long as you don’t boot it too much.
Has anyone noticed the cooling fan staying on after switch off? It’s happened a few times now, in varying conditions and after both fast and slow drives; wondered if it was part of the running in process or Cat regeneration. If anything I have run it in too slowly/not varying the revs enough.
Thoughts?

I asked VW finance for a quote in reducing my Touareg lease total mileage of 30k down to 20k….. quote came back more than I’m paying at the moment which I didn’t anticipate. Possibly a result of higher interest rates and lower residual values ? Needless to say I’m sticking with what I have.
You can request another quote in 30 days - worth doing it to see what the random number generator at VWFS spits out. I might be showing my age here but some of the month on month variations I have seen in lease extension quotes makes me think they have Bertha doing the quotes. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0211240/

We are nearly 36 months into our lease and over 40k miles and still as happy as the day we received it. Only problem we’ve had is the condensation/frozen inner windscreen but that has gone now. We are signed up until July 24 and are going to see if we can buy it outright.
Dont blame you. Don't be afraid to haggle a bit on the price they give you and ask them a buy price 6 months from the end and go back for a refreshed one every 30 days. When its close to what you would pay, haggle. Not saying it will 100% work but going through auction is always a risk to them so they are sometimes up for negotiation. tedblog said:

I’m looking forward to seeing one of the light refreshed models on the road… see if I can spot the difference.
Big tech change mainly https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volkswagen/touareg/3...

Haha, Liverpool where I live. I received the videos pretty quick being local, the one from the CCTV in Boots is a real eye opener. A miracle nobody got hurt and not yet clear how it actually happened. The fact he took multiple cars out and security bollards means the car was accelerating heavily! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-6...

I’ve noticed my oil getting low but now being prompted for an oil and filter service after having had the car for 12 months and covered only 6k miles …. Seems a bit over the top but will have it done shortly I guess as per schedule.
What’s the going rate at a VW dealer for the first service?Benito88 said:

No probs.
I read the leasing forums/ fora and had read that VW we're doing good hand back deals.
So I asked for a quote.
Usually VW is half what you owe which is better than a lot.
Half what I owe would have been half of 12x near as dammit 600.
So I'd have kept it.
But it was peanuts. So we ditched it after 24 of 36 months.
All I did was ask for the figure.
Great thanks, spoke to VW and it’s a definite option, the chap said obviously the longer you leave it the lower the settlement figure will be with no need to pay any portion or the remaining monthly payments. Last time I looked into this they quoted 1000s for early return but now seem to add a large credit to cancel most of that out - good to know!! If Arval did this I could get out of our GTI Clubsport which would be fantastic haha!

Im pretty sure it was 55% of the remaining payments previously. Wonder what's made them change their mind? I'm 18 months in of 36 months and probably looking to extend another year. Be curious about a buy price as well.

No idea but it’s good to know. I’m thinking of early hand back as the car spends most of its time sitting on the driveway which is costing £500 plus a month along with insurance which is about to double. This is my biggest out going ( no mortgage or rent to pay) and just seems wasteful. Enjoyed driving the Touareg but I it’s not essential for my situation so hence my thoughts…..If Arval did this I could get out of our GTI Clubsport which would be fantastic haha!

Hi All, finally found a thread regarding Touaregs, and read through all the comments, and some of the delivery times have been a real eye opener.
I ordered a 2 year lease through select car for a 2024 Touareg R in matte grey in Feb this year. Delivery was estimated May/June lol this has been pushed back 3 times to now Sept/Oct with no build date confirmed, so I can imagine this won’t be the last change. Select Car advise this is due to a shortage still on semi-conductor chips. I am getting to the point where I am considering cancelling and opting for another brand which is in stock. Which I am gutted about a) because everything I have read confirms the Touareg is a fantastic car, and underrated and b) they are as rare as hens teeth, I rarely see a Touareg on the road (probably because they can’t build the bloody things!)
Question is, would you guys hold out, I thought the build times were just a lot better now we are out of covid etc, but I can imagine I will not be seeing it until the end of the year / maybe new year so total wait of 10-12 months. Anyone know if deliveries are getting quicker or just the usual VW pain / slowness?
I can't offer any insight into delivery times for factory orders, but I just took delivery of an MY24 Black Edition 286 in no-cost white, which I ordered two weeks prior. It was a stock vehicle at VW Stockport and I believe the broker said they had other colours/engines in stock. I'm not sure if that includes the R and/or your choice of colour, but it might be worth asking around a few other brokers, or even getting in touch with VW Stockport directly? I dealt with Pavan at Lease My Vehicle, if you wanted to start there.I ordered a 2 year lease through select car for a 2024 Touareg R in matte grey in Feb this year. Obviously you might have a battle on your hands to get your admin fee back, if you did go down that route.
Best of luck!
