XKR Performance

Does any one know what the sports mode button actually does? I know it changes the gear timings. Does it do anything else? perhaps to the suspension?

Has anyone else noticed that sometimes, in sport mode particularly, you can put your foot to the floor and feel like you are powering the space shuttle. Other times it just seems like a pretty fast car, with hardly the maximum power being produced.

Is this variation in performance ussual, or is something wrong with my car?

I belive it stiffens up the suspension a tad ,, at least thats the feeling i used to get ,, of course it could all be in the mind

simply changes gear later to exploit more power higher up the rev range

probably more satisfying to manually work up and down the gearbox IMO

I drove a XKR for three years. Great car, but was always slightly concerned about parking it in safe places and after doing a motorsport sensation at Palmersport, decided to get a car that had more feed back and sensation on the road. As a daily cruiser, probably the best car in the world

Jaguar Racing are doing another track day at Palmersport this year. DO IT - and you'll see how a XKR really performs on track. Great fun and you'll get some idea of the car's limits in a safe environment
