Does anyone know where you can get the limiter taken off, get the engine management system chipped, or know of anyone who does performance improvement on these machines?

part of racing green cars.

XJR(old-style V8); Performance Upgrades

Miscellaneous
Engine power increase to approx. 430 BHP (XKR only) by incorporating full straight through exhaust system, increased boost pressure, revised supercharger cooling and sports induction filter.

Engine management upgrade, incorporated in standard ECU by computer download. Provides improved response in the typical driving range of 2500 to 4500 rpm and gives an extra 30 BHP and 21% torque enhancement (XK8 and XKR).

Water methanol injection provides an extra 10 BHP (XK8 and XKR)

Sports induction air filter - washable.

Racelogic V-max system: Allows the car to run to its unlimited maximum speed.

What else can you do?

Even more smoothness and flow is obtained with the fitting of a Racing Green exhaust:

Straight through system (excluding manifolds): Replacement catalysts and silencers with larger bore pipes and chromed oval tail pipes giving a 15-20 BHP increase. Choice of sound levels.

Half system: Replacement larger bore pipes and silencers with larger bore pipes and chromed oval tail pipes giving approx. 10 BHP increase. Choice of sound levels.

Improve your car control and sheer driving pleasure by fitting SpeedShift sequential gear change system

First step is to run the car on 98 octane fuel. That will yield immediate performance. Standard EMS was mapped on 98 octane fuel as a baseline.

I would not have the engine rev any higher without having major internal changes made to the engine - forged pistons and steel conrods.

The best way to liberate power is to replumb the chargecoolers. The intercooler circuit is connected to the engine coolant circuit so that it can be correctly filled at the factory. The way to go is to use a new header tank with swirl pot and have twin pumps feed cold water from a bigger chargecooler radiator to each chargecooler brick individually.

You can also use an LSD from an X300, but you need a 3.06:1 ratio, plus you need the correct 'pendulum' and pressings. Even better is to use an XJS lsd with the clutch pack optimised for traction in a 15HU case and the 3.06 CWP.

I think the German market uses a different spring rate and damper setting (harder) than the UK so they'd be good candidates for fitment.

Hmmm, Gavin Pearson, You seem familiar, perhaps seen you around once at Whitley years ago. "Roti"?
