Should I be worried?
Discussion
All,
I have desires for either a Speed Six Cerbera or an XKR. Frankly, the XKR has top spot because it's metal, but big drawback is the auto box!
I have been reading through some of the posts on this board and I am getting worried about the seemingly high running costs of the Jag and the big problems woth stalling etc. Should I be worried if I am looking to spend GBP 25K on an XKR. Will it be ok?
I expect to be returning to UK around July after being abroad.
Any help in deciding between the two current best coupes around would be much appreciated.

I had an XK8 and now have an XJR and I can thoroughly recommend the cars and the driving experience. I had a stalling isssue with my XK8 but i gather this was confined to '98 models and you'll be getting a new model than that.
Don't worry about the autobox - its a peach. Press the sport button and you've got a ferarri under your right foot; turn sport mode off and it will waft you effortlessly. When Jaguar combined this Merc-derived autobox with the mighty Jag 4.0/4.2 supercharged engine they created a thing of beauty.
Maintenance costs are suprisingly low.
My biggest advice is buy from a dealer and you'll get a full Jag warranty for your peace of mind.
