Well this doesn't seem to be getting much response on the Satnav forum so I'll try here.

2006 S-Type with DVD satnav (2005 disk).

It worked fine until a few weeks ago when I started getting 'Postcode not recognised by database' or similar. At first I thought it was simply foxed by new postcodes, but it can't find any at all, with or without a central space.

I've checked the DVD and it looks clean and in perfect condition. Any ideas please?

Can I suggest something seemingly stupid, as I was experiencing this for a while in my S Type? When entering the postcode, don't forget to enter the space too! If you enter without the space you get the not recognised message.

Simple!

How would playing the drums help?

Because when the neighbours come out to complain about all the noise you can ask them the way.

Leaper, yes, when I first tried it (without a space) and it didn't work, I immediately used a space and it did. Now it doesn't work whether I use a space or not.

MBH, I have a TomTom as well. I use both for two reasons: (a) I photograph weddings and can't afford not to get to places, so two systems gives me redundancy (b) I use the TomTom for the nitty-gritty close-up view and the car satnav for larger-scale overview. However, it would still be nice to have it taking postcodes.

So I retrun the question to the floor smile

My previous post has vanished! It said:

'You may have a point... when the car was having its AC fixed they managed to flatten the battery...

Furthermore, today when I tried to enter 'Stalham' it jumped to 'St Agata Communidad Valencia' and wouldn't let me enter 'Sta' at all. The DVD is marked 'Europe C 2005 Denso Corporation'.

However I can find no way to set it back to 'UK'; I can't find any menus saying 'select country'. I don't have the satnav manual so am a bit stumped.'

No problem.

Touch "Nav Menu" to get into the menus

Then "Destination Entry"

In the Destination Entry window it displays the country on the right hand side, there is a button to "change" country.

Touch "Change", then select "UK" from next screen.

ETA this might help in future, not perfect but the best I could find : http://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/extfree2viewjagpro...

thumbup Thank you very much Simon, easy when you know how. I was thinking too logically, expecting to set the county before the destination.

Obviously after a battery disconnection it defaults to Spain! Thanks again.

Things aren't what they used to be. It should default to 'The Empire of Great Britain and Her Dominions', not some bunch of swarthy cabbage-eaters...

same problem here, but these posts have provided much amusement and a solution - change county from Belgium. I guess you need to do it whenever the battery has flattened or been removed.
