XJR 1997 grill color question

I am looking at purchasing a 1997 XJR and saw one on ebay. The grill is not body color coordinated and there there is a leaping Jag mascot on the bonnet/hood. Were there XJRs like this in 96-97?

There is a 98 xjr in the classifieds it hasn't got a body coloured grille on it either,some do some don't.

I think the american market favoured those bits and bobs.

You can get an XJR chrome pack - which is basically the standard XJ8 trim but with an XJR mesh grill. I got offered a chrome pack XJR by my local Jag dealer.
In my opinion they should be avoided at all costs - the XJR looks much better than the standard XJ8 because of the colour coded body. (A set of big alloys also sets it apart nicely)

The only Jags sans leaper in the States are the XKR IIRC from my last visit to the dealer...

My 96 has a stainless steel wire grill but with a coded surround, no leaper I'm afraid, just a growler.
