I saw an empty space in the local supermarket carpark this weekend next to a black XJ (an XJ6) so thought I park next to it and do some visual comparisons since I've only looked around it in the dealers.

By parking up with the wing mirrors level it looks about the same length, taller....but I just don't like it. The rear lights are odd and the front lights uneven and too small. It has of course the new grab handle doors so fat American's can open them, in chrome of course (tacky) and in black it looked like a cross between a hearse and the Munster's daily runaround. It might be made of aluminium and lighter by 40% but there's just too much I don't like about it.

Seems to have lost the flowing looks in my view. Looks a bit thick waisted.
(does that make sense?)

Well, I like it It's the most Jaguar-like looking Jaguar available today
It can't beat a 420G though

I think the new car has lost the sleek look. The old car looks as if it's about to pounce - it really does look like a big cat.

The new car has lost all that 'cause some fat tt complains about the lack of headroom etc

I think the MkX was first then followed by the 420G, they are the same cars really except the later model was updated a little externally and a bit internally but I can't remember what was done exactly

May dad had an old shape XJSport (mine now) and now has a new XJ6. We both prefer the old one, both looks and general 'feel'. Can't really compare handling much as the new one doesn't have the sport suspension.
