Bought an XJR!!
Discussion
As a result of the response I got to my recent question - " Do I buy an XJR or an S-Type 4.2" (which was a resounding vote for the XJR) I am now the owner of 2000 XJR. I pick it up next week but drove it this weekend - my god what a car! It wafts along when you want to waft and then it eats ferrari's when you feel the need. It seems to have an engine taken from an F15 under the bonnet - it certainly sounds like one and it definitely goes like one.
Afterwards I got back in my XK8 and it felt unsophisticated and slow by comparison.
Many thanks to you all for steering me in the right direction. I'll try and post a picture here when i take possession...

Sorry pipesmoker, I'm not an expert in these matters. If you look at this thread: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=54683&f=23&h=0 it seems to suggest that you have to do it this way, hosting your picture on fotango or webshots for example.
Having had my XJR for 6 weeks I thought i'd share my thoughts:
It's fab. The performance is truly outstanding and the handling is a perfect balance of smoothness and sharpness. The interior feels more classy than my old XK8 (bar the clock - uggh)and i now appreciate that the black wood is much nicer than the walnut dash.
I've had to get reverse sensors fitted as it is a very long car and difficult to slot into tight spaces with conviction.
My only gripes are the tiny petrol tank (is it me or can i really not get more than about 250 miles-worth into the tank. (17.5 mpg for your guide)) and a real appetite for tyres. The torque through the rear wheels is so great that your rubber has to be virtually brand new to avoid the traction control cutting in - although this is mainly in the wet.
For the record its a 2000 V8 in emerald green with 18 milan alloys, brembo brakes and fat sports exhaust
