Considering one for my replacement toy and to use hopefully on an almost daily commute basis (20 miles).

Could go down the classic route but love the looks of the XK8 or XKR.

The budget must be under £30k, which removes alot of E-Types, so what should I go for?

Any thoughts please?

Alot of my friends slag off the looks of the XK - common ones being a) Grandad car or b) Too long (made for the US market apparently).

I love it!

How many miles do you do?

It would be very hard to resist an E-Type.
But I suppose the (also gorgeous) XK8/R would the sensible choice.

Ah, the old Head Vs. Heart dilemma!

About 15k per year.

It's never a head v heart situation for me - I never use my head except to land on when I fall off the bike!

I'm looking more towards an XK though for the all year travelling and the wife likes her creature comforts - still she could always follow in her own car!!!!

Davel. I notice you're in Cheshire.

If you ever need good quality/reasonably priced work done, or just some advice - then you could do a lot worse than talk to the independent Jag specialist who looks after mine.

He's in Rochdale, but I know he does quite a bit for folks in Cheshire (well that's where all the money is ).

He could possibly point you in the direction of a good one too.

Let me know if you want his contact details.

Why don't you raise your budget and buy my XKR - it's in the classifieds!!!

Seriously though as a daily driver it has to be the XK, the e-type (unless it's a modern reworking like an eagle) would be too comprimised for modern driving
