To refresh your memory.
What would you think if you saw a Jag that someone had done this too?
I'll pitch my tent on the "I Love it!!! I Wonder how much it would cost to do?" side of the fence.

I seem to vaguely recall from my old 1970's Custom Car mag reading days that one of the fibreglass specialist's offered a arch/spoiler kit for the Jag Coupe after the series came out...??

Just search for Broadspeed Jaguar on Google Images, These were raced in the 1970's and were hwere the arch kit for the road-going cars was derived from.

Oh My!
I think I am in love. I wonder if it would look as good on a four door...
ETA: I guess i would have to weld the back doors up...

A recent program on TV cars quoted Patrick Macnee as stating he loved the Bentley in the original Avengers but hated the Jaguar XJ Coupe in the New Avengers.
The following web link, backs this up, those huge tyres did nothing for handling and the BL products were at there lowest quality level, holding up film production with failures. They even had to hire an XJS from a dealer as the one loaned to the production company by BL was so unreliable.

Some may remember that initially the first series of the professionals used BL products but the same problems arose and subsequently the producers switched to Ford and Bodie and Doyle added
numerous extra sales to the Capri

I have heard that about this Jag. I wonder if it is because the car was actually set up as a racing car rather than a road car. Would it have a bigger turning circle / No power steering and stuff like that or was it really just the size of the tyres?

Just make it a prettier job, it looks awful close up.
That would be because Enola is actually a 4 door with the rears welded up, not a proper coupe. It was featured in Jaguar World a few months back, it had won it's class last year i believe, it's a quick car.
As for the broadspeed bodykits, yes once available for the coupe but now a very rare item indeed. The last set i saw on ebay was being sold with a completley rotten coupe to fit them to and the lot went for around £2k
I've read a few reports on these cars and copy ones people have built and they all seem very difficult to drive on the wide rims, as per Patrick McNee's comments about the Avengers one.
As for a 4 door version, please don't, i saw one on ebay last year and it looked absolutley awful, plus the owner had put standard wheels on it (with the big arches) as he couldn't drive it otherwise!
Good coupes are rare enough due to the floors rotting out as they could never get the side windows watertight, but i would say a good driveable broadspeed coupe (even replica) would be a very rare beast indeed.

Someone should be shot for allowing the car to get into that state!Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
