The odometer in my 1995 XJS has stopped. The trip odometer still works, the speedo and tach work as well. What would cause this? Is this electronic or a cable problem? The odometer is analog btw.

Jim, I would suspect that it is a problem inside of the speedometer head it's self. If the odometer is analog as well, then a small gear that drives the odo has probably gone astray. If the odo is digital then your looking at an electrical fault in the speedo/gauge pack.

Oh just great! Thanks Derric; I will have "the man" look into it. BTW, there are a lot of Jags here and minimal service; you need to come open a shop up!

Jimbeaux, I see you are in Louisiana. It looks as if politicians in Europe are going to seriously handicap industry generally and probably kill the domestic motor industry off with 'global warming'taxes. That will no doubt take our racing specialists with it. Personally I think that the whole global warming/carbon emissions issue is a scam based on doubtful science and bogus statistics. nor do I have a lot of respect for Al Gore. It seems to me that the States will benefit massively from this, which I have no problem with, unless they decide to go down the same route in which case we'll all be speaking chinese.

What the feeling at street level in the USA? Would you mind giving me your take on it.

wavey Hello CK! Opinions cover the range here of course. However, the dominate agreement around here seems to be that the world is getting warmer but that it is a natural cycle thing and not caused by us upright walkers. There was a GW sandal march scheduled in the northeast the other day that was cancelled due to a snowstorm, that was classic! You will find few in the states have any love for Gore or the "Gorons".
