Hi has anybody had the upper s/charger mod ,from the likes of jaguar xp or paramount.Does it give any noticable acceleration increase or is it more for midrange overtaking power? many thanks Lee.

Is it also easy for the dealer to spot ???

Oh and the ECU upgrade can it be a plug in device that can be removed if it's in for a service ?

Have fitted the upper pulley to my XJR, did find that max boost pressure increased by approx 2 PSI, made a slight difference, would recomend the lower pulley upgrade available from paramount/racing green if a more noticable torque increase is req tho

However some company in the US does a lower pulley upgrade that you can basically specify the boost you req

Lower pulley upgrades pretty easy to spot, upper pulley is very difficult as it is only slightly smaller in diameter

2 types of ECU upgrades are available, some reflash your original unit with new settings, others are of the piggy back type were they alter settings from outside and you can adjust them yourself to optimise everything

Hope this helps

Hi Chargerman is spot on

The upper pulley can be a little tricky to change if you don’t have the right tool, but difficult to spot once done.

ECU’s

Options can be either flash tune, i.e. a modified blanket program flashed over the original or a customer remap, which is carried out bit by bit on a rolling road, which changes the original data held in the ECU. If the flash tune is a good one, there should not be much difference.

We have been asked many times for a piggy back XK/ XJ unit, whilst they are available for some of the Jag range, we have not found one for the XK/XJ – if anyone knows anything different I would be interested in hearing from you

Thanks

Hi all

Elite & performance jags lists a piggy back sys on there web site, and a company in the states is developing one of his own apparently.

I myself have had my ecu reflashed by racing green, not sure what difference just the ecu would have made on it's own tho, as fitted it in conjunction with pulley upgrade.

Next i'm thinking of removing the top speed delimiter, guessing i will need to remove my ecu and send it off again?? anybody that has had this done or any more info would be appreciated

Racing Green delimited mine 3-4 years ago, they had to send it off, whether they do now I am not sure, give them a ring would be best.
I am sure Paramount can do it on the spot from what I have seen on the www.xkec.co.uk club members forum.

Thanks for the info on the piggy back units.

Speed limiter removal or resetting is included in our ECR remap.

Price is just £699, and this includes before and after dyno runs as well, its done on the spot whilst you wait. We have an open day on the 24th March for XKEC members, you welcome to come along and meet the guys if you like.

Give us a call if you would like to discuss this or know any more at all.

If the modification is well designed and worth doing, why worry about the jag dealership finding out? Are they going to put you in detention? I assume that having done the mod, your jag warranty is smoked anyway.
