The lower cam cover screw at the rear of the LH (nearside) cylinder bank is missing on my S-type V8 and following the dictates of Sods Law the cam cover has sprung an intermittent minor leak.

This produces an occasional oil drip which lands on the exhaust manifold - with resulting stench - and it always happens when I am transporting somebody I'd quite like to impress, (BMW or Mercedes drivers, New candidate for long term girlfriend, French Nationals, etc)

Having bought a new screw at ridiculous cost from my main dealer (who presumably lost the original deliberately in order to make his profit target this year) I find it is a pig to tighten even with a 1/4ins drive socket set. The bodywork gets in the way and this is probably another reason why the original screw went AWOL.

Anybody know of a flexible drive tool I can use to bed this screw down properly?

Hi, these are real hard to get to on the S-Types, the way we undo/tighten them is with a uj socket. They have the socket built in to the universal joint. 1/4 drive of course.
Would advise u remove the cam cover n check the timing chain tensioner if its a 4.0 V8, wise to fit a new gasket n plug seals as well.
