hi there - was thinking about buying an XK8 or possibly the supercharged version. I'm looking at budget cars - are there any specific things i should ensure i check out - engine upgrades/timing chain stuff, etc Is there a particular engine which is superior/more economical etc
many thanks for reading/replying!!

Jon, if you trawl back some pages you will find the same questions time and again. There is a lot of info.

But only look at an XKR, the 4.2lt 6 speed is more ecomnomical then the 4.0 5 speed. Get a 2001/02 or newer to avoid dodgey engines.

Buy one with ALL the options, there are alot of cars with a lot of differnet specs out there.

To sum up get as later car as you can afford.

"Dodgy engines" on older cars is a bit ott, there were issues with them but it's nothing that can't be checked & dealt with and cause no problems.
