Hi There

I've had Dunlop SP9000's on my M5 for the last couple of years - I got 35-40000 miles out of them. I swapped the M5 for an S Type R in April and swapped the original tyres at about 20000 miles - I've done a further 10000 on them and they look like they'll last about the same as on the M5 - IMHO they're a good all round tyre - great in the wet, quieter than most, and last and last. I've used blackcircles.com for the last few times and found them to be the cheapest.

Cheers

I've had a 2005my S-type R for 6 months and 5,000 miles. It is on Conti Sports (the original equpiment tyre, not Cont Sport 2's). They are poor: very noisy (but very dependent on road surface), poor compliance (e.g. terrific thumps on expansion joints - sidewalls too stiff?), and low wet grip. In fact they are probably the worst thing about the car! I've experimented with the pressures and settled on the Jaguar-recommended 30F 32R as the least-worst. When I say poor wet grip, my previous car (Chasseur Stealth) had better wet grip on most sets of tyres I ever had on it - BFG, Falken, Kumho; the only poor tyres I had on it were a set of Avon ZZ1's (mistake!). Indeed, without traction control, it was probably quicker in the wet than the S-type R is with it.

I would welcome other's comments regarding a reasonably quiet tyre with good grip (for which I'll happily sacrifice wear) for the S-type R; now the Contis are down to 3 to 4 mm I will soon be in the market for a new set before I bin the thing - I like to use it for what it was designed for, whenever it's safe to do so.

Hi Prolix i have only ever run PS2's so cannot comment on any others, but a couple of other guy's veiws who i value their oppinions rate the Toyo'T1r's.The PS2's handle great both in the dry and wet but are fairly noisey, but i think thats a trait of our cars with such low profile tyres.Hope this helps, if you find a good compromise could you please post as i'm shure lots of people would like to hear your views ,cheers Lee.
