I have the opportunity to buy a XJ6 5.0 TWR engine. I've only seen the engine on pics and the major difference that is visible is the TWR cam cover.

I'm planning to have a look at the engine next week. How can I be sure that it is truely a TWR engine and a 5.0?

Does any one have performance figures? website? Can I trace the engine via the engine number? Trace it with whom?

I've searched the net to find an enthousiast homepage with several TWR engine set ups but got no result.

probably like most other stuff at TWR it was rebadged standard material.

If you want a reliable tuner with spectacular results go to Lister.

TWR was always considered as a rather micky mouse set-up, nothing like the fast Range Rovers ala made and tuned in Coventry.

I think even chasseur or Arden produced much better results than that Kidlington outfit. There's a huge difference between money spinners being milked with body kits and exhaust silencer styling, and running a Group C race program, even though the V12 engine may have looked superficially the same

Eg, they would NEVER have used a HE engine in the le mans cars, they simply don't work.
So if you see HE anywhere it means it just doesn't work, and it's yet another kitted out spoilered thing with Bilstein dampers and posh badges.

Some things they worked on were quite interesting but as far as I heard they never made it out the door and jag killed it stone dead as soon as they could! (like eg.the 4.2L X300 AJ16 project)!

The proper XJRS engine runs zytek ECU and 4 wires from the dissy give this away. The TWR 6 litre engine has cosworth pistons fitted but is otherwise standard but with an expensive sequential zytek injection system. It produced noticeably more power. The later 6 litre engines are stock.

Presumably all the people they used to beat going round a certain circuit in France for 24hours at a time. :-)

Admittedly they never did as well as they've had hoped at Formula 1, if Hill's car had kept working for a few more minutes they would have managed 1 win, as it was they had to settle for only ever getting a 2nd place.
