an eveing browsing the classifieds has revealed that xjrs are available at 6-8 years old, with not much mileage, for not much wedge...! are they a money pit or a sensible buy? discuss...

I had one here last year. We carried out a pre-emptive PDA check on the vehicle, when we costed up the items that needed rectification to bring the vehicle up to approved used car standards we got the biggest shock. It was circa 100% of the stand in value in parts & labour alone. yikes

As someone said to me it is a grand tourer. In that it costs you a grand everytime you go out in it!

Rubbish.

I purchased one for £5000 - 104k miles, XJ300.

Needed a few tiny bits doing at MOT, but for the most part was an amazing car!!!

Cost me less to run than my Audi 80 (apart from petrol)

Phil, have you not got the facility to sort out the issues economically so you can sell something reasonable on to brothers who wish to buy a Jag?

Well, I can buy parts at cost and do a deal on labour if that's what you mean?
