Hi Chaps,
Iam thinking of an s type 3.0 se around 2001 with around 60k, is this a car i can service myself ?
Are there manuals available to do this all info welcome many thanks.

The answer is yes, you can service it yourself. It is very easy.

The workshop manuals exist, the cars are easy to work on and are generally very durable.

If you run into an electrical problem you might need a code reader but aside from that I think everything is extremely straightforward.

Yes. But just so that you know, it differs significantly from Ford vehicles in that it uses completely different cylinder heads that have direct acting mechanical bucket (DAMB) followers on the cams, rather than roller finger followers (RFF).

All V6 Jags are made in the same plant - Cleveland 2 - and you will find that the engine has no inherent weaknesses to speak of.

My tame technician tells me that the gearbox can be a bit iffy though, aka 'The Lurch'.

hehe It brought a new meaning to 'ghost shifting'. That said, you get used to it.

The 2001 S-Type has the 5R55N and doesn't have the 'lurch'.
