Damn those Jag dealers!
Discussion
I was all happy on my way home for the weekend and got a call from the Dealer, who said that seeing as my XKR was a december build I wouldnt be able to have the spec I ordered. I had to have a load of unnecessary extras, costing me and extra £5k to boot!
I had heard rumours before, but thought i'd got away with it. It seems that to get the 19" carelia's that I really want, I'll have to buy the more expensive Cremona's and then also buy some Carelia's from the dealer at full cost and try and flog the cremonas on ebay or something.
Why do they pre-specify the early spec's? My thoughts was that they wanted the first cars on the road to look a bit special, ie biggest wheels and poshest interior/sound. But why on earth did the active lights get on the spec? They arent apparent from just looking at a parked car are they?
Any of you Jag dealers got peed-off customers too?

Jag obviously want to start the production line running, hence spec the cars up on the initial batch. But if you don't want it, don't buy it ask for another slot or a discount!

PS I'd rather have a car that was 3-6months into the build so they can practice on the early cars being made not mine!

I am tempted to take a January build, but that probably means feb delivery, which then pushes the question of whether i should wait till march for the 07 plate, and so on. I'm just getting too eager to get the car.
Doesnt look like there's any way of getting round it as the jag bulletin J1138 says "no exceptions made" and "There will be no appeal process for this build. If you are unable to place these cars with customers, please contact your Regional Manager who will be able to reallocate them to alternative dealers."
If I get the car before Xmas, then I would be swayed, but I'm not sure any assurances given by the dealer will be worth anything, as delays often happen.

I specced mine about 4/5 week ago and was told then that early build cars must have Premium Sound, 20 inch wheels, full leather, adaptive lights. I would possibly have all but the adaptive lights anyway. The only thing that suprises me is that my dealer knew about it and informed me at the time and yet yours didn't? Its obvious that Jag are trying to bleed every penny out of the early build cars. I also hear that Salsa is not available on early build cars too.See if yor dealer can get the build slot bought forward to compensate? Mine is 20th November but you cant have it !!!

Quite frankly I would tell them where to stick it and any other future to boot.Doesnt look like there's any way of getting round it as the jag bulletin J1138 says "no exceptions made" and "There will be no appeal process for this build. This is why you should not put down a large deposit.
Kryten, I will say this only once...THEY WANT YOUR MONEY...before you part with it you should have precisely what you want and a ing good bit more, along with plenty of complimentary coffee and biscuits. Do not even go there. Tell them what you asked for and if they dont give you it they can return your deposit and damn well whistle.
That should do it.
