Can somebody shed light on the above codes..? i`ve read alsorts of stories ranging from "the cam sensors being too sensitive", " a lack of oil pressure requiring shimming the oil pump to increase pressure," , "updating the onboard computer" "replace engine"
"faulty circuit" "actuator stuck" "actuator oil feed blocked" etc etc i have 2001 S Type sport, 80`000 miles,manual,F.J.S.H.... what do i do..??

Try this:

P1386 indicates that the variable valve timing is over advanced and P1388 indicates that it is over retarded. Under computer control a solenoid activates an actuator and then oil pressure controls the rest. So the solenoid could be faulty, the control signal to the solenoid is faulty, the actuator could be stuck or there is an oil supply fault.
