I spent a lot of time fannying around and asking questions, but have finally placed an order:

XKR Coupe
Midnight Black
Ivory Leather
Aluminium Dash
19" Carelias (I just love-em!)

Managed to muscle my way into a January Delivery Slot.

Anyone else got one coming? Any idea when the first deliveries are?

My car is November build - delivery around 1st December ! Think there is a new black coming out - Celestial Black? Should be a monster ! I have had my XK since March and its been magnificent.

Think all early build cars must be specified with 20 inch Cremona wheels , premium sound , luxury sport leather and adaptive lights.

Gone for Indigo , Aluminium Weave , Cremonas and Ivory with Charcoal. Think the brightwork will stand out better against darker cars. Would have gone for Blue Prism but unable to see one before speccing so not taking a risk.

Carelias are 19 inch according to Jag website btw.

Yep, carelia's are def 19". Jupiters are a new 19" (werent available on XK) which are standard on the XKR, but I dont like them. And I just personally prefer the Carelias over the 20" options.

The Jag dealer has confirmed the price with my spec, so it seems that they arent forcing me to take the options you mention silverspeed (thank god, as I dont want any of them!). Adaptive lights!!! I havent used full beam for 4 years (living in London), so why the hell do I need special lights to see round corners? its already bright as day with all the light pollution.

How will the new black differ from the current 2 blacks?

What is aluminium weave? Does that mean choosing the a bright front grill rather than a dull/matt one? I didnt specify, as I gave my spec over the phone and wasnt in the showroom ticking boxes. I guess i'd prefer a matt grille, and preferable would rather the side vents werent shiny either.

We've got an XJ and an S-TYPE in blue prism. It's bloody awful (on those cars). It may look pretty good on the XK though. Personally i'd go for something else but each to his own.

Carelias are DEFINATELY 19". Stunning alloy design in my opinion.

Fantastic. I'm envious. I happen to have a current XKR brochure to hand and would confirm that your choice is as near as damnit perfect. As an old fashioned prat (q.v.) I would have one of the veneers. If only just for the smell. But I'm sure you are right.

The car really suits dark colours. The aluminium weave is a dashboard option a bit like carbon fibre weave but brighter. It looks worth considering - maybe a little more sophisticated than knurled aluminium though there aint much in it.

If its an option to tone down the radiator grille mesh I would do it. Its the one area the XK is smarter than the XKR.

Coupe before convertible any day.

Respect, brother!

Most of the questions have been answered. Aluminium weave I think is standard on XKR . Its not available on XK. Cant answer re the new black as I haven't seen it. If its anything like Astons Onyx it will be stunning but I didn't want to take a risk on it. Dont think it would take a lot to dull the brightwork you mention.
If you want to see one in the flesh I believe there may be one at Goodwood Revival next weekend.

I guess these questions and answers serves me right for ordering a car without looking at the brochure! At least the spec isnt confirmed yet, so I think i'd better take the time to go visit the nice people at my local Jag dealers and see if they'll give me a brochure (despite having given my business elsewhere).

On the Adaptive lighting, I did not specify this on my XK as I thought it pointless. When the car arrived I was suprised to see the sides light up when I turn corners so mine has it and I therefore assumed they had made it a standard spec item.

Thats not adaptive lighting but corner lighting that will come on as you indicate left or right with your lights on. With adaptive lighting I understand the bulb holder actually moves with your steering wheel.

I think this car is going to be fantastic - cant wait to drive it.

its a shock when it happens!

The XK lights are very good and very bright with a very good spread, its hard to imagine that the adaptive is much of an improvement

Don't worry Phil it's au revoir not goodbye to Jag.

But it does seem to be that you can get these new XKR's pretty quickly, I was told in the new year too.

Jag are bringing out a 5.0ltr 370BHP normally aspirated XK, as well as a 5.0ltr 500BHP supercharged XKR end of next year. Yippeeee! It will have those 21inch rims seen on the yella XKR at Goodwood and will relaunch the Jag Racing Green colour.

Well I think the 'standard' XKR will be plenty fast enough but that is a cool set of wheels.
