Marki, thank you for this, the phone is a Motorola 8700 and is the original Jag phone kit. I need to get hold of a credit card sized SIM card to get the phone working again or an upgraded phone with a connector that would be compatible with whatever is installed within the car.
Does anyone know if any of the UK service providers can/will still issue this old SIM format (credit card size) or can anyone advise a replacement phone that would compatibly plug into the system within the car?
My motorola had the mini sim card are you sure you need the c-card sim card.
And it has got to be the motorola startac , not the very small one .
And if you have to buy a phone im afraid you need to buy it from Jaguar even if it is more expensive apparently if you dont you will lose some of the features .

John,
Congrats on the car. Sounds lovely. Pics?
On the subject of your SIM card, seem to recall Carphone Warehouse did a converter some time ago that you could put a smaller SIM into that converted it into the bigger size. Don't know if they still sell them as all phones these days use the bigger size.
EDIT: Is this what you're after?

Having just bought my first Jaguar...... a 1998 XKR could anyone recommend a good independent in the West Mids for servicing?
Secondly, the car is fitted with a GSM phone but where can I get hold of a credit card sized SIM card to get the thing working?
John.
I had the same phone thing with mine, I went to Vodafone and they sold me a credit card SIM for the phone no problems. They are still manufactured as credit card sized, even if you then have to pop the sim out of it for smaller phones.
Got hold of an old/empty credit card sized card and stuck my SIM into the card...card into phone and hey presto it all sprang into life....brilliant and many thanks to all for your help/advice.
Am now trying to get hold of a duplicate SIM in a credit card sized plastic holder so I don't have to keep swapping back and forth and don't want to have to carry the old analogue brick from the car around with me.
By the way, local Jaguar dealership parts department reckon the upgrade is about £1k to a digital phone in the car!!!

Marki, might not be too much use in Sweden but I got a price from Micheldever Tyre Services Plc here in the UK (www.micheldever.co.uk) for all four tyres (Pirelli) for the XKR of GBP 606 including VAT and delivery. They do fit but are down south and too far for me to drive...cheaper to get them delivered.
This is the best deal I've found so far in the UK and compares with GBP 260 excluding VAT for one back tyre quoted by one of the most expensive suppliers.
