Hi there

Car i like is hpi clear, But according to jag they were notified of front damage back in 98 when car was 1 year old.

Would dealers notify jag say if it had just been a cracked bumper etc, as at front of car quite alot of plastic.

Wondering whether i should pursue car or not? Awaiting info if possible off dealer of records if they still have as go back to 98 on extent of damge.

Is it common policy off a dealer to notify jag of every car with a little knok or not.

I really like car but would i maake more sense in walking away

It's not common policy. One benefit in this instance however is that it'll have been repaired by an approved repairer. It all depends on exactly what was done and the quality of the repair.

Having said all that, the age and price of vehicle you're looking at it won't make any difference to the value. On the plus side too, i'd guarantee that MOST cars of that age have had some kind of altercation in their life so it's a case of better the devil you know and all that.

hi phil

Thanks for that, will try and see if it was jaguar who repaired it. So could it be that damage was not as bad as a CAT D knock, or were CAtDs registers not out in 1998 if you know what i mean.

Apparently a CAt D car is worth a few quid less.

Beginning to think could i be silly in buying a car knowing that its definetly had some sort of knock, normally with my luck i normally find it out after i bought it with my hard earned cash.

Also wonder if i should try one more hpi company to see if its on there records as a cat d.

I have seen a picture of a car damged than repaired it looks frightening

Any accident damage that's been recorded on a HPI register WILL knock the value of a car. If you're in two minds, don't buy it.

Really like colour though phil, know it sounds daft, Its register clear according to HPI, its got high miles 110k (its as 1997) but new engine at 70k, only done 10k miles in last 3 years by new owner.

Suppose the vital question will be extent of damage and by who repaired if official or not., will hopefuly get that info from jag tommorrow.

One part of me is telling to go for it, as you say better the devil you know, if only got it hpi would be known of the wiser.

Owner does not mind a inspection at jaguar so hopefully that would indicate that everthing is ok, providing i pay
