I’ve just removed my old Radio from my Jag (XJ6 89) now looking at the wiring diagram Haynes manual does not match what I have. The car is fitted with the Jag sound system of its day.
I have tracked down the power and Power Antenna connections
Ok now she has 6 speakers, and 7 connections left. As per the Haynes manual I’m missing 4 connections! And I have an extra that’s not even mentioned.
Anyone know of a good site that may have the wiring diagrams or a contact number etc

Do the speakers not share a common -ve connection? i.e. there are 6 +ve feeds for the speakers, and one -ve that all 6 are connected to???
Think of it like a -ve earth body setup (yes, I know this is something quite alien to the Tiv brigade...). All the car's electrical items have one +ve feed, and they all share a -ve path back to the battery - the body. Should work with speakers, too!
Edited to say: IMHO only - not liable if it goes bang!

I once owned an '86 XJ40 and have the Jag service manual. I guess it will be same as yours.
According to the wiring diagram the door speakers share a common -ve so you should end up with 10 speaker wires at the radio.
Here's the wire colour coding of what should be at the radio connector:
RH Front door speaker Pink/White
RH Rear door speaker Pink/Yellow
RH Common door speaker Pink/Light Green
LH Front door speaker Red/White
LH Rear door speaker Red/Brown
LH Common door speaker Red/Green
RH Rear Speaker Pink/Orange Pink/Red
LH Rear Speaker Red/Purple Red/Light Green
Please ask if you need any more info.

Are you just fitting an upgraded/better stereo because you have one/want better sound?
If so and your new unit is fairly new, then just go to Halfords and buy a Jaguar coverter for £10, which will allow you to connect your new stereo without cutting any wires - just plug it in and it will take any new stereo, eg Kenwood, Pioneer, JVC,Blaupaunkt, Alpine etc etc.
See www.halfords.com/shop/finditem.asp?cat=2&sub=157
I hope you read this before you start cutting all the wires!! Also you just put your old stereo back when you sell the car.
