It is genuinely a piece of cake to replace.
Thnaks for confirmation, I have had a look and will go down the scrappy soon to pick a replacement. It was just that another forum mentioned that this bracket may have been attached to the door other than by the bolts that are visible from outside the door. I was unsure as there is no bolt head on the inside it is just flat.
Thanks again

you will have to remove the door panel, which is fairly easy, becasue the check-strap is fitted from inside the door, these x300 models suffered from the metal panel in the door snapping and cracking, having done quite a few of these, the best and cheapest option is to make a template to go over the check strap, where studs come out, just some metal, approx same thickness as door skin will do, this will give it some extra strength, and if it was my car, i would do this even if the metal has not cracked or snapped off anyway.
Just want to say how improessed I was with SNG Barrat
Spoke to them about the check strap
They informed me it came in two parts
We could not agree on which part it was so they faxed the diagram
Identified the part, ordered it, was delivered next day and I fitted it when I arrived home from work (with some big repair washers to spread the load).
