XKR to be Launched next Month
British Motorshow Debut for Supercharged Coupe
Jaguar's new supercharged sports XKR will make its global debut here in the UK at the British International Motor Show, to be held at the ExCeL Centre in London’s Docklands.
The XKR will be unveiled at a press conference on the Jaguar stand on Tuesday 18 July.
"We are thrilled that the XKR will make its global debut at Jaguar's home show," commented Jaguar's UK Managing Director Geoff Cousins.
"Following the resounding success of the XK since it went on sale earlier this year, we are confident that the much awaited XKR will continue to build on the momentum the car has generated for our dealers."
The new XKR sports car will be produced at the company's Castle Bromwich manufacturing centre in Birmingham. In addition to being the assembly plant for three of Jaguar's four models, this is also where the aluminium bodies and structures for the XJ and XK are constructed.
Further information including images, specification and pricing will be available nearer the official launch.
...and don't forget to come and say hello at the PistonHeads stand (no 548).
No nice bright red brembo calipers No huge flared wheel arches No lowering No decent alloys
All in all I still want one!
BTW, my MD has now seen the new S-TYPE, X-TYPE & XJ face lift. S-TYPE is supposedly stunning!
They are face lifting the X-Type! I thought the thing was on it's last breath!? As for the S-Type, I am really looking forward to it, hope its a mean looking, not an old fudders mobile.......
£10k surcharge on the XKR! but I can't see it really, as they are only bolting on an ancient eaton blower and a few grilles, I'd pay an extra £5k for the badge but no more, unless tghe 'R' Performance division have had a fiddle.
When are the release dates for the face lifted X/XJ?

RE the X-TYPE, no idea what Jaguar are playing at with that, the rumour mill is awash with stories about canning it, doesn't look like that's going to happen, atleast not immediately.
S-TYPE looks like a beast apparently, can't wait to see it myself too. I'm guessing the car he's seen has now been signed off, you never know though
I certainly hope the R division have had a fiddle with the car, Jaguar are being really quite coy about it all at the moment though.
No idea on the release dates as yet, suspect they'll be Q4 this year at the earliest though.
It is interesting Jag are being coy about the XKR, I do hope they are bringing out something speacial not just a an XK with quad zorsts and grilles...........................There is hope then of an XKR-R :dribbledrool:

G, the X-TYPE is an odd one, the volumes sold would indicate it has been a success for Jaguar, though it's certainly not sold anywhere near the level anticipated. It's also probably Jaguars least profitable car (it certainly is for the dealers). Personally I would like to see the X-TYPE canned completely and something radically different brought out (á la F-TYPE). Jag 4x4.... hmmm i'll reserve judgement on that until I see it in the flesh. Initially though, the idea doesn't sit particularly comfortably with me.
I can't wait to get more info on the new XKR, it's either going to do everything we hope for and be a huge success, literally shoving Jaguar right back on the performance car map, or as you say, it'll be a supercharger and grille job.
XKR:R, please please PLEASE bring out an M6/911 killer.

I agree, Jag Dealerships are real boring places at the moment, they are full of X's with no eye candy like the XK's to look at. A new S will certainly shake things up and make them far more interesting places to be!

Couldn't agree more! There's only so many JRG with Champagne X-TYPE 2.0D SEs you can look at before the appeal starts to wain.
Just had another look at an XK today, flicked throught the brochure to see that the Jag Racing Green is on limited availibilty. I heard a rumour that this colur maybe be axed or the name changed seeing as jag no longer do any racing. Can you shed light on the subject, I have to say it is my favourite colour and if I were to get an XK I would either be safe with Ebony or go all out with JRG, but I hope my mind won't be made up for me.................
My ole flame...

Jaguar seem to be changing a lot of the colours around at the moment, It's actually rather difficult to keep up.
Perseus dear chap, 20' Perseus!
It was delivered with Sepangs, as I heard that there was initial trouble with the Perseus. As it was a XKR-S I definately wanted the Perseus as per the spec. Kind ran hot and cold with them in the time I had it. My favourite wheels were the Montreals.
Just been looking at the car spy shots of the new XKR and it definately looks like just a lourve and grille job.

Personally I've always been a fan of Detroits and Sepangs. Just blasted our XJ Super V8 up and down the road, that has 20" Sepangs on it (along with 400bhp). Ahhhhh heaven!
