British Motorshow Debut for Supercharged Coupe

Jaguar's new supercharged sports XKR will make its global debut here in the UK at the British International Motor Show, to be held at the ExCeL Centre in London’s Docklands.

The XKR will be unveiled at a press conference on the Jaguar stand on Tuesday 18 July.

"We are thrilled that the XKR will make its global debut at Jaguar's home show," commented Jaguar's UK Managing Director Geoff Cousins.

"Following the resounding success of the XK since it went on sale earlier this year, we are confident that the much awaited XKR will continue to build on the momentum the car has generated for our dealers."

The new XKR sports car will be produced at the company's Castle Bromwich manufacturing centre in Birmingham. In addition to being the assembly plant for three of Jaguar's four models, this is also where the aluminium bodies and structures for the XJ and XK are constructed.

Further information including images, specification and pricing will be available nearer the official launch.

...and don't forget to come and say hello at the PistonHeads stand (no 548).

Doesn't matter what preconceptions people have, they'll still read and comment about things they have no interest in...

Interesting, what defines an old man's car then and at what age are you an old man

Let's hope Jaguar has been allowed to make the best car they can, as opposed to being made to pull its punches so that it doesn't make a better car than Aston Martin.

This is the ONE car that could get me into a Jag: 400 BHP and a light body that looks gorg, I just hope it lives up to the hype.

Test drive required me thinks.......

Extremely cheap considering what you get for your money. S-TYPE R has long been my favourite driving Jag, it just feels so well balanced and poised on the road.

Interesting comment, I'm 25 and I'd love a new xk, but then i have class. I buy saville row, not off the shelf armani, I don't have a mullet, wear t-shirts with hilarious slogans on them or have any understanding of what "wikkid" or "flava" mean... I also don't lust after bmw's with tinted windows and enormous alloys, let alone neons. In these things I may indeed not be representative of the yoof, in which case Jags may be cars for old men. Actually, lets scratch the "old" bit and say they're cars for men, as opposed to boys.

Crikey - another stereotypical post...

I'm 27, I have a kind of mullet, I have a 'Bollox To Blair' T-shirt which I wear with pride and I buy suits off the peg. I have also owned Jags since I was 22.

Admittedly I don't like BMWs, I cansider my XJRs standard 18" alloys too big, and think that neon lights are for chip shops in Brighton. I also drink real ale, smoke the occasional cigar and dispise most TV. I guess, therefore, I'm also not the 'average' yoof.

Haha interesting comments there! I'm 17 and on my first car! My Dad's 50 this year and owns a Caterham and he says that they're old man's cars so u probably have to a be a bit older than that to be an old man! But my reasoning for saying my orignal comment is that I very rarely see a man below the age of 60 driving a Jag and the current S-Type has a system I believe that, went you take the key out of the ignition, the seat slides back and the steering wheel moves forward! I presume this makes it easier for an old man to get himself out of the car! Not saying this is a bad idea but I wouldn't've thought this would appeal to the younger generation! Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Where has all this "old man" stuff come from when referring to Jaguar? I owned my 1st Jag when I was 21 in 1979 and in those days no one ever thought of it as anything but a fine car, most people loved Jaguar. I suppose memories of the E-type were still alive and even in 88 the British fans - over 60,000 - at LeMans were cheering Jaguar on to its 6th victory were of all ages. So, what's happened?

Interesting, I never realised that Savile Row was famous for Korean looks...

I've just come back from a test drive of a new XK Convertible. Having had a current shape M3 in the past, I have to say the XK is very impressive. If this car does not shift the old-man stigma some people think Jag have, then those people will never change their opinions! I'm sure the XKR will be even more exhilarating.

You sound like a typical barrow boy. "I've got class I have" I get all my suits from Saville Row"
